Terms of Service
Last updated:
Welcome to Bookverse. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. These terms are written plainly; nothing here replaces legal advice for your specific situation.
The service
Bookverse provides structured language-learning content through a web and mobile app, currently focused on Mandarin Chinese aligned with the HSK 3.0 standards. Content and features may change as the product evolves.
Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You agree to provide accurate information when signing up.
- One account per person. Don’t share your login.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to access the system in unauthorised ways.
- Resell or redistribute the content.
- Use the app to harass, abuse, or harm others.
- Submit malicious content or attempt to attack our infrastructure.
Beta status
Bookverse is currently in open beta. Features may be added, changed, or removed without notice. The app may have bugs, occasional downtime, or content errors. We try to keep things stable; we can’t guarantee perfection during beta.
Subscriptions and billing
Some features may require a paid subscription. Billing is processed by Stripe. You can cancel anytime from the Billing screen. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we don’t pro-rate refunds for unused time unless required by law.
Content and intellectual property
- The app, its design, and the structured curriculum we author are owned by us. You’re granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning.
- Public-domain or licensed source material (HSK word lists, example sentences) remains owned by their original sources.
- Anything you create or save in the app (your notes, study history) remains yours. We don’t claim ownership of user data.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are involved in abuse. We’ll generally notify you first unless doing so would be unsafe or impractical.
No warranty
Bookverse is provided “as is”. We don’t warrant the app will be error-free, that content is suitable for any particular goal (including passing the HSK exam), or that the service will be uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim, or AU$100, whichever is greater.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of NSW unless a different forum is required by your local consumer protection laws.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
