反问句表示强调 (三76) Rhetorical questions for emphasis (三76)

反问句形式是问句, 意思却是强调一个肯定或否定. 两个常见格式: 不是 … 吗? (今天不是星期天吗? = 今天就是星期天). 难道 … 吗? (难道你不知道吗? = 你应该知道). 反问比直接说更有力, 讨论时常用.

A rhetorical question looks like a question but emphasises an affirmation or negation. Two common patterns: 不是 … 吗? (今天不是星期天吗? = it certainly is Sunday). 难道 … 吗? (难道你不知道吗? = you surely should know). Stronger than a plain statement — common in discussion.

  • 今天不是星期天吗? Jīntiān bú shì xīngqītiān ma? Isn't today Sunday?
  • 难道你没听说吗? Nándào nǐ méi tīngshuō ma? Don't tell me you haven't heard?
  • 这不是很简单吗? Zhè bú shì hěn jiǎndān ma? Isn't this very simple?
  • 难道我学不会吗? Nándào wǒ xué bú huì ma? You think I can't learn it?

用疑问语调表示疑问 (三78) Rising intonation as a question (三78)

上一课 (grammar-01) 是反问. 本课: 不改变词序、不加"吗", 只把句尾语调上扬, 就能表示疑问 (口语). 今天是星期六? (语调上升 = 在确认). 你打算去旅行? 常用于带着惊讶或确认的语气, 比"吗"问句更随意.

Grammar-01 was rhetorical. Here: without changing word order or adding 吗, just RAISE the intonation at the end to ask (colloquial). 今天是星期六? (rising = confirming). 你打算去旅行? Used with surprise or confirmation, more casual than a 吗 question.

  • 今天是星期六? Jīntiān shì xīngqīliù? Today's Saturday?
  • 你打算去旅行? Nǐ dǎsuàn qù lǚxíng? You're planning to travel?
  • 这是你写的? Zhè shì nǐ xiě de? You wrote this?
  • 你也喜欢这门课? Nǐ yě xǐhuān zhè mén kè? You like this course too?
