How many books? ¿Cuántos libros?
Usa How many + sustantivo en plural para preguntar la cantidad: How many books? — Three books. La respuesta también usa número + plural. La regla de la -s del cap. 11 funciona aquí tanto en la pregunta como en la respuesta. Palabras nuevas: how many, many, some, all, book, pen, bag, apple, dog, cat, thing. Counting: How many...? Contar: How many...?
To ask the number of things, use "How many + plural noun?": How many books? How many dogs do you have? The noun is plural even in the question. Answer with a number + the same plural noun: Three books. Two dogs. With one, the noun is singular: one book, one dog. Remember: many languages do not change the noun, but English keeps the -s every time the count is more than one.
Para preguntar el número de cosas, usa "How many + sustantivo en plural?": How many books? How many dogs do you have? En la pregunta el sustantivo también va en plural. Responde con número + el mismo sustantivo plural: Three books. Two dogs. Con one el sustantivo va en singular: one book, one dog.
