He's a teacher Dia seorang guru
Kata benda tunggal yang dapat dihitung memerlukan artikel: a sebelum bunyi konsonan, an sebelum bunyi vokal (a student / an office worker).
Dialogue
He's a Teacher — Dia seorang guru
- Emma Minsu, who is he? Minsu, siapa dia?
- Minsu He is teacher. Dia guru. (kesalahan: a hilang)
- Emma He is a teacher. You need "a", Minsu. Yang benar He is a teacher. Kamu butuh "a", Minsu.
- Minsu Ah, he is a teacher. And she is a doctor! Oh, dia guru. Dan dia dokter!
Dialogue
A or An? — a atau an?
- Jack Is your mother a office worker? Apakah ibumu pegawai kantor? (sengaja salah pakai a)
- Minsu An office worker. "Office" is a vowel sound! Yang benar An office worker. "office" itu bunyi vokal!
- Jack Good. You have a teacher in you. Bagus. Ada bakat guru dalam dirimu.
- Minsu Thank you! I like English. Terima kasih! Saya suka bahasa Inggris.

Grammar
Articles a / an artikel a / an
English puts a small word — an article — before a singular countable noun. Use "a" before a consonant sound (a student, a teacher) and "an" before a vowel sound (an office worker, an apple). It follows the SOUND, not the letter. Use "the" for a specific, known one (the doctor here). Korean has no articles, so it is easy to drop them — but "He is teacher" is wrong; say "He is a teacher".
Bahasa Inggris menaruh kata kecil — artikel — sebelum kata benda tunggal yang dapat dihitung. Gunakan "a" sebelum bunyi konsonan (a student, a teacher) dan "an" sebelum bunyi vokal (an office worker, an apple). Ia mengikuti BUNYI, bukan huruf. Gunakan "the" untuk hal tertentu yang sudah diketahui (the doctor here). Banyak bahasa tidak punya artikel sehingga mudah terlewat — tapi "He is teacher" salah; katakan "He is a teacher".
- He's a teacher. She's a doctor. /hiːz ə ˈtiːtʃər ʃiːz ə ˈdɒktər/ Dia guru. Dia dokter.
- She's an office worker. /ʃiːz ən ˈɒfɪs ˌwɜːrkər/ Dia pegawai kantor. (sebelum bunyi vokal → an)
- I'm a student. The doctor is here. /aɪm ə ˈstuːdnt ðə ˈdɒktər ɪz hɪr/ Saya pelajar. Dokter itu ada di sini.
