Die Wochentage The days of the week
The days of the week: Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Donnerstag, Freitag (and Samstag, Sonntag). They are all masculine (der Montag) and written with a CAPITAL. For "on Monday" you use "am" (an + dem): Ich habe am Montag Kurs. NOT "auf Montag"! You ask: Welcher Tag ist heute? — Heute ist Mittwoch. New vocabulary: Tag, Woche, Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Donnerstag, Freitag, heute, morgen, Wochenende. Pronunciation corner: the "w" = "v" and long/short vowels.

Die Tage und „am Montag“ The days and "am Montag"
Alle Wochentage sind männlich (der Montag, der Dienstag …) und werden großgeschrieben. Für „on Monday“ verwendet das Deutsche „am“ — das ist „an“ + „dem“ (Dativ) zusammengezogen: Ich habe am Montag Kurs, am Freitag frei. Der Fehler von Englischsprechern ist „auf Montag“ (Übersetzung von „on“) — das ist falsch; es heißt „am Montag“. Für das Wochenende: am Wochenende.
