English · CEFR Band 1 (A1) · Chapter 18

My day 나의 하루

I get up, you work, we study. 하지만 he / she / it엔 -s를 붙여야 해요: he gets up, she works, it sleeps. 부정·의문엔 do / does: I don't sleep, Does she work? 새 단어: get up, go, eat, drink, work, study, sleep, always, yesterday. 발음 코너: 3인칭 -s(세 소리: /s/, /z/, /ɪz/)와 "get up" 연음.

He get up or he gets up? — He get up일까 he gets up일까?

  1. Emma Minsu, what time does your brother get up?
  2. Minsu My brother get up at six. (실수: he/she엔 -s가 필요해요 — "gets up")
  3. Emma With "he", add -s: he gets up. "he"엔 -s를 붙여요: he gets up.
  4. Minsu Oh, he gets up at six and I get up at seven.

A normal day — 평범한 하루

  1. Jack Emma, do you get up early?
  2. Emma Yes, I get up at six. My sister gets up at eight.
  3. Jack And what does she do in the morning?
  4. Emma She studies, and she always drinks coffee.

Present simple: he / she + -s 현재 시제: he / she + -s

For daily habits, English uses the present simple. With I / you / we / they you use the base verb: I get up, they work, we study. BUT with he / she / it you MUST add -s: he gets up, she works, it sleeps. Forgetting this -s is the most common mistake for many learners. For negatives and questions, use do (I/you/we/they) or does (he/she/it), and the main verb goes back to the base: I don't sleep in the afternoon, Does she work on Monday? (not "Does she works"). Note irregular: go → goes.

I / you / we / they엔 동사 원형: I get up, they work, we study. 하지만 he / she / it엔 반드시 -s를 붙여야 해요: he gets up, she works, it sleeps. 부정·의문엔 do(I/you/we/they)나 does(he/she/it)를 쓰고 본동사는 원형으로: I don't sleep in the afternoon, Does she work on Monday?("Does she works" 아님). 불규칙 주의: go → goes.

  • I get up at seven, and she gets up at eight.
  • He always eats breakfast in the morning.
  • I work in the morning and study in the evening.
  • Does she work on Monday? — No, she doesn't.
