The days of the week Les jours de la semaine
Les jours de la semaine : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (plus Saturday et Sunday). En anglais ils prennent toujours une MAJUSCULE. Le point clé est la préposition : ON avec les jours — I have class on Monday, on the weekend. AT avec les heures (at nine, at night) et IN avec les moments du jour et les mois (in the morning, in July). Mots nouveaux : day, week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, today, tomorrow, weekend. Coin prononciation : les syllabes cachées dans « Wednesday » et la terminaison « -day ».
Dialogue
at Monday or on Monday? — at Monday ou on Monday ?
- Emma Minsu, when do you have class? Minsu, quand as-tu cours ?
- Minsu I have class at Monday. J'ai cours le lundi. (lapsus : avec les jours on utilise « on », pas « at » — dis « on Monday »)
- Emma With days, use "on": on Monday. Avec les jours, utilise « on » : on Monday.
- Minsu Oh, I have class on Monday and Wednesday. Ah, j'ai cours le lundi et le mercredi.
Dialogue

- Emma Today is Friday. Tomorrow is the weekend. Aujourd'hui, c'est vendredi. Demain, c'est le week-end.

Grammar
The days and "on Monday" Les jours et « on Monday »
The days of the week always take a capital letter: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The key rule is the preposition of time. Use ON for days: I have class on Monday, I rest on the weekend. Use AT for clock times and night: at nine, at night. Use IN for parts of the day and months: in the morning, in the afternoon, in July. A common mistake is "at Monday" or "in Monday" — with days it is always ON. To ask the day: What day is it today? — Today is Wednesday.
