礼儀の小さな言葉 — danke, bitte, Entschuldigung — そして英語話者がほぼ必ず読み間違える二つの音の罠。一: ドイツ語の w は英語の「v」のように聞こえる — willkommen は「VIL-kommen」、英語の w ではない。二: z は常に「ts」 — ganz, zehn は ts の音で始まる。(そして v はたいてい「f」に聞こえる。)重要な一点: bitte は「please」と「you're welcome」の両方 — 万能の礼儀の言葉。標準ドイツ語。
