レストランで At the restaurant
Ordering at a restaurant. After the object (what you eat or drink) you add the particle "o": gohan o tabemasu, mizu o nomimasu. To ask politely, use "…o kudasai": menyū o kudasai. English speakers often drop the "o" (gohan tabemasu → gohan o tabemasu). New words: gohan, asagohan, hirugohan, bangohan, mizu, ocha, mise, menyū, chūmon suru, resutoran. - Yuki マイクさん、なにを たべますか？ Mike, what are you eating?
- Mike ごはん たべます。 I eat rice. (slip: the object needs the particle "o" — say "gohan o tabemasu")
- Yuki もくてきごに「を」を つけます：ごはんを たべます。 The object takes "o": gohan o tabemasu.
- Mike あ、ごはんを たべます。そして みずを のみます。 Ah, I eat rice. And I drink water.

Grammar
もくてきごの「を」と「ください」 The object "o" and "kudasai"
たべる もの・のむ もの（もくてきご）の あとに じょし「を」を つけます。「を」は「お」と はつおん します：ごはんを たべます＝「gohan o tabemasu」、みずを のみます。ていねいに たのむ ときは「〜を ください」（please give me）：メニューを ください、みずを ください。えいごを はなす ひとは「を」を おとして「ごはん たべます」と いう まちがいを よく します — 「ごはんを たべます」が ただしいです。ばしょに いく ときは「に」：レストランに いきます。
