Obrigado Thank you
Portuguese's first agreement lesson is hidden in the word "obrigado". It agrees with WHO IS SPEAKING: a man says obrigado, a woman says obrigada — by their own gender, not by the person being thanked. Add de nada, por favor, desculpa and com licença, and you are already polite in Portuguese. Lucas says obrigado; Bia says obrigada — listen for the difference.
