"了"有两个用法: (1) V + 了 (完成体): 我吃了 = "I ate / have eaten". (2) 句末了 (状态变化 / 新情况): 太贵了! / 我累了 = "now I'm tired" (just became tired). 注意两个了在不同位置: V后 / 句尾.

了 has two roles: (1) After V = completion. 我吃了 ("I ate / have eaten"). (2) End of sentence = change of state / new situation. 太贵了! / 我累了 ("now I'm tired"). Different positions: post-V vs sentence-end.
