Gia đình bạn có mấy người? How many people are in your family?
The verb có (to have / there is) and two quantity question words: mấy for small, expected counts, and bao nhiêu for large or unknown ones. Family vocabulary begins: father, mother, child. Tone corner: telling mấy (sắc) apart from mẹ (nặng) — wrong tone, wrong word.

- Tom Có. Bố mẹ tôi là khỏe. Yes. My parents are well. (mistake: là before an adjective)
- Linh Bố mẹ tôi khỏe — không có "là" trước tính từ. "Bố mẹ tôi khỏe" — no "là" before an adjective.

có + mấy / bao nhiêu có + mấy / bao nhiêu (having & counting)
"có" nghĩa là "to have" hoặc "there is". Để hỏi số lượng, dùng "mấy" khi bạn đoán câu trả lời là một số nhỏ (ví dụ: số người trong gia đình), và "bao nhiêu" khi số có thể lớn hoặc bạn không đoán được. Từ hỏi đứng NGAY TRƯỚC danh từ được đếm — không nhảy lên đầu câu như tiếng Anh: "Gia đình bạn có mấy người?" (chữ "mấy" ngay trước "người").
có means "to have" or "there is". To ask a quantity, use mấy when you expect the answer to be a small number (e.g. people in a family), and bao nhiêu when the number could be large or you cannot guess. The question word sits RIGHT BEFORE the counted noun — it does not move to the front as in English: Gia đình bạn có mấy người? ("mấy" directly before "người").
- Gia đình bạn có mấy người? How many people are in your family?
- Tôi có hai em. I have two younger siblings.
- Bạn có bao nhiêu bạn? How many friends do you have?
